The hostess warmly welcomed us and even remembered our booking, despite us being new customers. As someone who has worked in F&B management, I tend to be critical of waitstaff, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of service. James, who wasn't even our waiter, went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience, from keeping our drinks topped up to engaging in friendly conversation. The food was outstanding, comparable to that of a Michelin star restaurant according to my chef son. The lamb dish was particularly amazing and paired perfectly with the wine recommended by James. My partner and I are not easily impressed, but we both left happy - he even left a tip, and I am writing this review. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. We had dinner with our family at this restaurant. There were 15 of us and the staff took great care of us. The table was nicely set up and the food and service were excellent. It was also very reasonably priced. They accommodated one member of our group who had allergies very well. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I had the pleasure of dining at Nick Nairn's restaurant, Kailyard, and it was truly a treat! The prawn and smoked salmon cocktail was unforgettable, and my husband's steak was beyond delicious - it was flavorful and tender. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. You will not be disappointed!
Average is perhaps misleading, Nick Nairn’s place the the Dunblane Hydro does a good evening meal and a good breakfast. The setting is excellent, perhaps a bit chilly, but it’s a big old place. The staff are friendly and courteous. The food is very decent. It is however, at the price level, more standard than special. The hype rests on the shoulders of the location, not the kitchen.
We had 2 breakfasts here, as hotel guests. The breakfasts were plain and average nothing more nor less. Service was lacking. The amount of dead animals hung on the wall of the restaurant was appalling.
