The Blue Barn - St Paul

This Minnesota State Fair spot is fantastic. The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich is a popular choice here. The food and drinks are excellent. I really like this newer section of the State Fair.

I recently watched the episodes featuring the Minnesota State Fair on Food Paradise and Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre Foods, and I was extremely disappointed by my experience at the restaurant. I had high expectations for a unique dining experience, but the portions were small and the dishes were not prepared as showcased on TV. The chicken and waffle cone was particularly disappointing - it lacked gravy and only had a few pieces of chicken in a cheap waffle cone. The bleu cheese and fritz dish was also a letdown, as there was hardly any bleu cheese and the portion size was small. In my opinion, the hype surrounding this restaurant is unfounded. For a truly unique and delicious meal, I recommend going to Giggles instead.

The poutine and elote were fantastic. They were definitely the highlight of my food experience at the fair this year.

I tried the sweet potato poutine and it wasn?t good at all. It was cold, probably because they make the food ahead of time to keep things moving fast and I was just unlucky with a old plate. The item didn?t contain all of the ingredients listed, theingredients I did receive lacked flavor. I usually can bear finishing my food regardless if I don?t love it, especially if I?mstarving.. which I was! But I could not continue after two bites. It was just not good, at all. Service wasn?t amazing either.Also pretty expensive! Compared to other food at the fair.

It was a beautiful fall evening and after a 4 mile hike along the Mississippi we were famished. The patio had heater for this cool brisk evening. The wallleye was crisp and seasoned perfectly. The spaghetti and meatball had the biggest meatball I've ever seen. I was a little perplexed as to why apples were mixed into the veggies that came with the walleye. Stunning views and a busy patio were a big draw. Service was great. Parking can get a bit tricky on busy days.
