Start - St. Louis

On internet it seems like they only have 4 pinball machines, but we only found 2 of them and they were not working properly. Bummerz..

Used to love this bar, who couldn 't love a bar with arcade games! Went tonight and they got rid of, no exaggerating, three fourths of there games including there game consoles upstairs. We tried to stay anyway and they didn 't let one of our friends in because of their dress code when we were all dressed the exact same. UpDown is a far better arcade bar if you are in the area!

We came here for the arcade games and some bar food. The games were fun but a lot of them didn't work and that was disappointing. The pizza was actually great and I would have it again. The drinks were tasty and fun. We wish there were more working games and it was a cool place. Staff was nice. Clientele was mixed. Some very high energy and loud, some mellow like my son, myself and my husband. Be willing to hear loud noises.

I recently took a group of 25+ here prior to an event and we had an amazing time! Ryan made sure that we had a designated area for our group to enjoy food and drinks, we had the best service from the servers and bartenders, and the food and drinks were perfect! Plan on stopping by anytime I am back in St. Louis!

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Everything is overpriced—from the games to the drinks to the food. The pizza that comes through the window is excessively greasy and barely resembles pizza. However, what truly ruins the experience here is the security and management. Both are incredibly rude to people waiting outside and those who aren’t customers, showing little interest except in taking your money. The staff routinely harass people outside the bar, and management and security do nothing to address this behavior. They also block public walkways and the only accessible entrances to the nearby parking garage, refusing to let those who park there pass through. If you're looking for an arcade bar, steer clear of this place. Start Bar is not worth your money; you'll have a much better experience at Up Down in the Central West End.
