Ches's Fish and Chips - St. John's

Big portions but our family found the meal to be too greasy. I understand that it is a bit strange to say that we had fish and chips said it was greasy but I eat a lot of fish and chips but found the batter to be heavy with grease and not very light and fluffy. I will say that our service was excellent and very fast.

Went for dinner with a group of 9 people. They were out of about 1/2 of the items on the menu. I ordered scallops which were exceptionally greasy. The server was way too casual. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

I found a ant in my food and they they made me pay because I ate half my food. I was disgusted. I suspect that they left the food on the counter too long and let bugs get on it. I used the bathroom and it was very dirty. There was urine on the seat and it smelled very bad. I don't know if people clean it. I ordered shrimp but it was soft and undercooked.

Went in there for supper about 30 minutes before closing. Tables were dirty, fish was very greasy, chips had been cooked over and over coffee was old. Complained but did not get any satisfaction. Will not go back or recommend this resturant.

It would be rude not to stop by this classic St. John's eatery. Awesome cod, awesome chips. Friendly service. Bring the whole family and your appetite. :)
