Maria's Plaice - St. Helens

The restaurant was not great. I ordered cheesy chips, kebab meat, and a mixed kebab, and paid with my card. I forgot to order a can for my granddaughter, and when I asked to add it to my bill, they insisted I spend an additional £5 to use my card again. On top of that, the chips were cold.

I wasted £12.90 as everything ended up in the trash. I ordered well-done chips, but they were cold and undercooked. The fish was barely cooked and had a rubbery texture. I won't be returning to this restaurant again.

This is my go-to chippy in the area. My daughter loves the burgers and pizza, while I prefer the classic fish, chips, and peas. The food here is really nice.

As was passing at 1:10, decided to pop in and get a quick hot lunch doors were open, sign lit up saying open and know they’re supposed to be open from 11:30 13:30 daily. Got inside and was told they’re ‘finished’ everything clearly had been turned off for a while as no evidence of food having been made, everything been cleaned and put away. This was a good 15 minutes before closing and had clearly stopped serving food much earlier. Why have the doors open and the ‘open’ sign on when you’re not time wasted I’ll never get back. At least my arteries will probably thank me.

Ordered 3 meat kebab on just eat. Awful tastes like donner meat and liver. Gave it the dog. Overpriced and hate to think of the size of normal dinner kebab.
