Bidrage med feedbackI visited Le Saigon on the back of a CUDO coupon. I paid $30 for $60 credit. My son and I ordered spring rolls, lemongrass pork and a chicken cure with boiled rice and a soft drink. The place was BYO, so I bought my own wine and paid $3.00 corkage. The venue is huge and modern, almost too strong, with a splattering of old music memorabilia. The food was very delicious, especially the pig. The portion sizes were good. The staff was helpful. The place only lacked atmosphere, but it was 6:00 on a Wednesday night.
On Wednesday afternoon, my partner and I decided to have an early dinner at Le Saigon, a Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, we were left feeling disappointed. While the ambience was pleasant and attracted a local lunch and dinner crowd, the experience fell short. The food arrived quickly, due to the lack of customers at that time, but the timing was off as our dishes came 3-4 minutes apart. Both dishes were lukewarm and lacked flavor. The pancake seemed to have been sitting out for a while and the noodles were also lacking in temperature and taste. Despite trying to season the dishes with salt and pepper, we were unable to salvage the meal. To make matters worse, the bill at the end of our meal was surprisingly high for the quality of food we received. We decided that Le Saigon was not worth a second visit, especially when there are much better Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney that offer delicious food at reasonable prices. Our recommendation? Avoid this place.
We purchased a voucher to dine at this restaurant. I would probably not choose to eat here as a local without a coupon. That being said, it was a typical restaurant in an office area that was trying its best on a Friday night. The food was decent, not your typical cheap Vietnamese fare, but acceptable. The service was average, as we had to wait 15 minutes for our inexpensive glasses of wine after being seated. The salt and pepper squid was mediocre and a bit dry, while the stir-fried chicken was decent, although we were charged an extra $4 for requesting bok choy as an additional vegetable. The atmosphere was lovely and parking was easy. They do not allow BYO, but the wine selection by the glass was standard. Overall, it was an average dining experience.
My friend and my family were often in this restaurant, and since we are all vegetarians, it was necessary to ask the staff if it would be good for some dishes on the menu to be easily changed and they were always... very accommodating and pleasant to follow these requests. We really appreciate that and will return!
We are frequent customers at this restaurant and we absolutely adore it. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and occasionally features live music! The Special Bun Dac Biet is incredibly tasty and the flavors are very fresh. The rice paper rolls are exceptional! We highly recommend this restaurant to others...and will definitely be returning.
