Harvester Flamstead - St Albans

The staff were excellent at keeping us updated on any changes or substitutions on the menu. They were very attentive and made sure we were fully informed throughout our meal.

The hostess told us we could start a tab at the bar when we arrived early, but John, the manager, said we couldn't. He wasn't very friendly, and it seemed like they were short on staff.

This was my first visit to the restaurant and I was disappointed. The staff were helpful but seemed overwhelmed. We ordered fish and chips, but the portion was very small with mostly batter and very little fish. I have had this meal at the Hemel Harvester on many occasions and it was fine. The manager offered us a free dessert to make up for the disappointment. However, when I visited the ladies' toilets before leaving, I found them to be disgusting and decided not to use them.

Very friendly staff, made to feel welcome. Requested a specific table as with our disabled mum, perfect table provided. Excellent service and timings, excellent food.
