Hot day sat near pillar in the shade with my dog not on patio chairs. Had a cigarette. Customer told staff. Was told by staff member to move. I know there is a by law about smoking on the patio. There was no one else sitting where we were located. What happened to “kindness”? My dog and I just wanted to get out of the hot sun. Who were we really bothering? I understand the by law in place, but really?

When my brother and I heard Second Cup had reopened, he squealed and leapt with joy. He's 30.

I was a loyal customer of Second Cup for many years, but my experience there has unfortunately declined. Most of the equipment was replaced about 10 to 12 years ago, and now the coffee is overroasted; batch 49 just doesn’t meet the mark. I’m baffled that they decided to eliminate the Kenyan coffee, along with many other customer favorites. The location in Avalon Mall used to be a cozy retreat with the best lattes in the city, but it has really gone downhill since COVID. Seating options are very limited now, with a children's bookcase taking up space in one corner and a stacked warehouse in another, giving it more of a store-like feel. The high bar stools by the shopping center that once provided an aesthetic view and the perfect height have been replaced with much shorter chairs, making it hard to see over the counter. The staff has always been a bright spot at Second Cup, but this place certainly needs a significant overhaul.
