Bidrage med feedbackThere are loads of places to eat in Speyer, but take a walk off the Main Street and you'll find Kardinal2. The menu has plenty of choice, as does the wine list. The food was beautiful and the service was both friendly and professional. The lovely gentleman who served us, spoke English which made things easier. The restaurant offers both inside and outside dining and has a very appealing modern, but intimate decor.
A real gem for us foodies. They speak English but the food and wine are locally sourced. If you used to the best you will appreciate their attention to detail and dedication to serving you food they are proud of. When we enquired about if we should have the lamb or the sausage we were told that the lamb came in so fresh that just this morning it was frolicking in the pastures by the local stream. (Quid pro quo Clarisse.) Not vegan friendly but the lamb was fabulous! Large portions so beware and also, like all German kitchens, you cannot order past 10pm. Not even dessert! So get your order in early if you want something sweet! Prices are high but very fair because the meal is too notch. You might want to make a reservation as space is very limited!
One of my favorite restaurants in speyer and although I've been here a number of times and reviewed the restaurant only 8 months back I feel compelled to provide an update as this restaurant is a hidden haven in Speyer. Tonight I had the seasonally available HirschGulasch (Deer meat) with red cabbage and Spätzle (egg noodle). This dish is amazing and the meat is so tender. We started with flammkuchen which is a local dish which resembles very thin pizza but is a much lighter and is either baked with cheese and vegetables or cheese and ham. There are are really good local red and white wines available to accompany your dinner. Overall the service is excellent and the setting is great for a business meeting or couples. In the summer the outside tables are great for a nice cool evening.
Wonderful meal and great ambiance! Waitress and owner both very helpful with the menu in German. Healthy options and a nice glass of wine made for a very pleasant evening!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Speyer and serves really excellent food. The local specialities always vary week to week depending what is available at the time. The owner is friendly and very helpful and he is willing to take time and explain the menu options to non German speaking visitors. He will also advise what wines to select for the meal you have chosen. We we here for a business team meeting and a large group of 14. The service was quick and everything we hot and well presented. The deserts are so good so I suggest you leave some room if you have a sweat tooth. The prices are very reasonable.
