Bidrage med feedbackUsed to be better. 75 minute wait for Teo large cheese pizzas that cost 78 dollars. Ridiculous. Do better.
Located on beautiful Bald Head Island. has the best fish tacos and spicy margaritas.
The view is amazing, service was perfect, and lunch food was delicious. I ordered a burrito bowl with mahi and shrimp. It was healthy and delicious! The serving was the perfect amount of food with a good ratio of toppings. Our friend got the enchiladas and he said they were so good it made his left eye twitch (have to laugh at that one). We all ordered a round of drinks and they were made to perfection!
This place is advertised as an upscale restaurant for bald head. It isn't. The food is at best mediocre and I think I'm being generous. Whatever you do-do not order the queso, unless you love flavorless possibly powdered cheese. The chicken tacos seemed to be boiled chicken and no other flavor necessary. The bar service was slow. The bill high. The atmosphere sad and slightly dirty feeling and the food flavorless. I love going on vacation and not cooking but this place has given me no choice. And if I'm the better alternative for meals-we are all in trouble!
The dining options are limited, very limited, on Bald Head Island, but fortunately what is available is surprisingly good, especially surprising given the beach resort nature of the island. Restaurants in area such as this are very often much overpriced, and usually are significantly lacking in quality of food preparation and service. This little place was a pleasant experience, not inexpensive, but pleasant.. We ate here 3 times during our visit to the island, and all 3 times the food and service was very good. The restaurant describes itself as a New World Cantina serving Mexican food with a Spanish Cuban flair, and they pretty much pull it off. All the dishes seem to have a slight twist to the traditional Mexican approach, making the food interesting, appealing, and very tasty. We tried the Trio of Dips $9) Salsa, Guacamole, Queso and all were very nice, and the serving was well sized. The Nachos $8.95) consisted of chips, Black Beans,Lettuce, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole, Crema Fresca, Jalapenos, Salsa, Cotija a salty, crumbling Mexican cheese) no meat, at all. This is a huge dish also, easily shared among 3 or 4 people, and is full of flavor. The Pescado Especial $13) features a fish that is fresh and available, so it changes frequently. When we tried it the fish was Swordfish, and it was fresh, and cooked perfectly, and came with a nice, tangy Vera Cruz Sauce, and included Black Beans Spanish Rice. We also tried a variety of Tacos 3 for $13) fish, grilled shrimp, and carnitas were our choices. These are street style tacos, and were absolutely delicious, especially the carnitas. The Churraso Cubano $13) was excellent this is marinated, grilled flank steak with a chimichurri sauce, Spanish Rice, Black Beans, and Plantains. We also tried the Carnitas Al Horno $11) with Black Beans Spanish Rice, and the dish is excellent. The Carnitas here are as good as it gets tender and full of flavor. We actually tried them in several different dishes and combinations, and all were excellent. To change things up at one lunch, we tried the Jalapeno Jack Cheeseburger $10), and this was a great burger, with a very nice grade of ground beef, and a nice mixture of heat spice. The house Margarita $6) is excellent as well. They make their own sour mix in house, and it is very good. We enjoyed the meals at this restaurant, would not hesitate to eat there again and would go there if it were in our town.
