Hardcore Sweet Bakery - SOUTHINGTON

Very cool little bakery! It sit within a trendy industrial looking shopping center ish building. The whoopie pie was ridiculous! The blueberry cupcake was spot on, the peanut butter cheesecake and the carrot cake cheesecake bar were terrific and the wife loved the lemon bar! ? Would recommend!!

VERY underwhelming. My mother bought a cake here for my sister's birthday and it was so plain and besides being sweet it was just flavorless and dry. Probably one of the worst cakes I've ever had.

It was eh. After seeing their awards and how they were on the Food Network, I was so stoked. I thought the shop was very cute, their logo font was in tattoo letting, so I was so excited... but anyways. The selections seemed underwhelming but I proceeded to order 2 cupcakes, one was oreo and I can't remember the second one, it was for a friend. I was kinda surprised they were $4 each being kinda small, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and assumed higher pricing meant higher quality, nope. The oreo cake it's self one was super bland and kinda watery tasting. I was very disappointed and I kinda hated the frosting, which is saying something because I LOVE FROSTING- I threw it out. The oreo that was on top for garnish was stale and rubbery, I threw that out too! I think I really ate only 1/2 and then tossed it. I think my friend enjoyed hers though so at least 1 out of 2 did.

For preface: I’m a baker. I co-opened a bakery called Neighborhoods cafe in Fenway in 2012, and I did all the baking.I can say with confidence that this place has some of the best cupcakes I’ve ever tasted: ever.I got six different ones, cut them in half, and tried a few bites of each.First off: I was BLOWN AWAY by the mint. I don’t think people realize how challenging it is to get that mint-cookie flavor, and both the vegan and the traditional cupcakes here nailed it!All cupcakes had a fun surprise filling in the middle (I love when bakers do that), and the cookie dough icing had texture AND TASTE (how, I may never know) of a light cookie dough!I think the cannoli topped one was my favorite but I all were beyond my expectation.No, they don’t have a million options, that’s because they do a few things exceedingly well. Bravo!!!6 stars!!!!This bakery is located in a massive brick building shared by other stores. It was hard to find the handicap entrance but there is one on the side!!!

The inside of the bakery looks great! The cases weren't full, which could have just been a time of day, swapping out empty trays for new ones but it just didn't seem there was a huge selection. I asked for a suggestion and walked away with a fantastic looking Reese's brownie, which is appearance looks great! Overall, the brownie was pretty good, but far more dense than I expected. I would absolutely come back and try this again, but maybe something a bit lighter.
