Rita's Italian Ice - South Windsor

Absolutely love Rita's and I will drive 30 miles out of my way to have it. This was our first time at this point and it was the WORST Rita's, on which I was always for 3 reasons: The interior smells very strongly from cleaning products. As soon as we had ordered ourselves, we had to go, it was terrible. I went a second time a week later and the smell was the same. My children had large pieces of inflammatory ice in their Italian ice cream. There was also no special taste of custard, only vanilla and chocolate. All in all were very friendly staff and the desserts were still mostly phenomenal.

The vanilla frozen custard is great. It's not like other soft serve ice cream. The frozen custard has a creamier texture and enhanced flavor. I go out of my way to get some frozen vanilla custard.

They don't have chocolate custard and the employee had a disposition of a rattlesnake. We felt like we were bothering her when we walked in there.

Wish Rita's would come to MA. Miss it so much. Lots of fruit flavors this trip.
