Bidrage med feedbackAfter reading previous reviews, I discovered that the restaurant manager lacked enthusiasm for his job. The roast dinner was disappointing, with only two thin strips of beef. Despite a previous mediocre experience, we decided to give it another try. However, we will not be returning any time soon. The pizza crust was extremely hard. It's unfortunate that the food and service are not up to par, as the building and gardens are lovely.
I had never been to this restaurant before, but I will definitely be returning. The staff were very efficient and friendly. They had a good selection of beers with clean pipes, as well as a variety of other drink options. The menu had a wide enough selection to please everyone. I enjoyed a tasty pizza (although the base could have been a bit crispier), while my husband had the haddock and chips. He loved every item on his plate – including the mushy peas, tartare sauce, chips, and fish. We both had a rocket and Parmesan side salad, which consisted of a quarter packet of rocket topped with plenty of Parmesan flakes and a delicious dressing. My only complaint was that I ordered two double espressos and they came with petit fours, costing £5 each. We were under the impression that the petits fours were complimentary, so we were surprised when we received the bill. Despite this, we chose not to complain as we had already enjoyed the meal and the extras. Overall, a great dining experience, although receiving the petit fours without the option for just coffee felt a bit cheeky.
After visiting the church yard in Charlton Horethorne to pay respects to my family's grave on Wednesday, March 1st, we decided to have lunch at the Kings Arms. It was a lovely experience. Despite the few customers dining, we received a warm welcome and enjoyed a delicious, well-cooked meal at a reasonable price. The pub had been recently renovated since my last visit. Charlton Horethorne holds a special place in my heart as my happy village, where I spent many school holidays with my Nan and Granfer Dyer at Hillside Cottage. Many of my relatives lived in the village back then, creating a close-knit community where everyone knew each other. Thank you to the staff for providing such a pleasant and enjoyable moment. I will definitely be returning and perhaps even stay at the Kings Arms to reminisce and wander around the village, as it has been a long time since I last visited. Now at 78 years old, these memories hold a special place in my heart. - Maureen Cooper x
We all had a lovely time here with the staff being nice and friendly to the food being divine. Good menu and wide selection. Service could’ve been quicker and one of the young waiters could’ve cracked a smile but on the whole, a wonderful experience!
Lovely hotel. Room was excellent, under floor heating, thick walls lovely and quiet. Wet room to die form. Staff were all lovely and attentive, food was good. Lots of walks from the front door over the most beautiful countryside.
