Cathay Pacific Lounge

The lounge access was complementary with my CX fight. The food option was pretty good and they even had hot food like noodle soup and fried rice. It was the busy Christmas peak travel season but the lounge was still quiet, it was not crowded, and no wait in line to get in of course. Shower was ample, clean, and updated. I also have access to priority pass loungues and AMEX centurion lounge but I definitely prefer this one over the other two.

This lounge is also the business class lounge. Hence my ability to get in. We all know I don't have first class clout, heck we all know I really don't have business class clout either! Somehow I was able to score business class tickets to Bangkok with a layover in Hong Kong. I wanted to fully make use of flying in style so I showed up a couple hours early to get a look at the lounges while I could. The lounge was fairly empty when I arrived which was cool. I could snap pics of Camilla sipping her champers without making a full on spectacle of myself. The buffet wasn't spectacular to me. But then I'm an odd duck. The wine was pretty good and with the self serve option you won't get any stares as you approach your third glass. I ordered the noodles at the noodle bar and they were actually pretty good. You basically go to this area and order. Your given a buzzer and once it buzzes your freshly made noodles are awaiting you! I had a look around and I think it is a nice place to spend a little time. For me, it was a relaxing spot to hang out away from the craziness of the terminal. Would I argue that it is on par with Cathay lounges in Hong Kong? No way. After a bit of time spent here I was relaxed and rested for my flight. A little buzz and some happy vibes is how I want to start every adventure and this lounge did the trick!

I would say this is the best one world lounge in SFO. Certainly the American Express Centurion lounge is better but it 's all the way at terminal 3. The yelp title is misleading, this isn 't just for First Class passengers like many other lounges in Asia. Both business class and first class passengers can use this lounge. I was traveling with japan airline first class and wanted to take a look this lounge. Since both JAL and Cathay are one world alliance, I can also use this lounge in addition to the JAL lounge and other one world alliance lounge as well. This lounge is fairly new, newest of the bunch in the same building I would say. The lounge is modeled after the cathay lounges at HKG. Lots of beautiful marbles stones, open floor spaces, lots of tables and seatings. What puzzled me at first is you enter the lounge right at the middle. Both sides of the lounge has food and drinks but they food are different! I highly recommend trying out their made-to-order noodle bar. Drinks are pretty decent. I couldn 't find a closed off area to talk on the phone. The space is really echo(y) and any loud noises really transpire. The restroom entrance is all the way to the right side of the lounge pass the swing doors.

Easy to find with lots of places to sit while waiting for a flight, we enjoyed light snacks of sandwiches and salads. In addition there were hot foods and plenty of choices of beverages, both alcoholic and non. The lounge was not far from the gates and a great way to start a LONG flight.

I'm lucky enough to have access to the Cathay Pacific lounges worldwide. This SFO lounge has something the other ones don't. Those grey chairs. Sure they have the noodle bar, free liquor, hot food, but for me, it's all about one thing. Those grey chairs. I'd buy them and put them in my house if I only knew where to get them.
