Royal Barbecue - South River

The first time trying this place, we decided to call to place our order. I ordered the chicken. The owner was rude and said that it would take 45 minutes to make a T-Bone steak and couldn't not do it. It was 8pm and he was stating that it would be too close to 9pm, as they close, to make the T-Bone steak. That didn't make a bit of sense, since they had ample time to make the T-Bone steak. So I ended up ordering the pork. He said it would take about 20 minutes. After finishing my order, the owner just hung up without saying anything else or asking if there was anything else I wanted. My first impression of the place was that it was dirty and disgusting inside as it was like someone's home and restaurant all in one. Things were scattered everywhere and there were flies all over the area and in the case with the desserts. It was kind of funny to see that they sold underwater by the counter. I came in to pick it up after 25 minutes and it was still not ready. I to wait about 50 minutes from the time to place my order until I received it for it to be ready. The food itself was a whole tray, so there was a lot. The rice was kind of hard, which showed that it needed to be cooked more. Also, the tray came with the meat, fries, and plain white rice. Overall, it was just too dry and needed some kind of sauce. Overall, don't expect top notch customer service here. The staff is rude, the food takes forever and is tasteless, and the interior of the restaurant is absolutely putrid. Only giving it a 1 because the fries were decent. Long story short, I did come back one more time to give this place another chance as my husband was craving Portuguese food and this was one of the only places left. Safe to say, I will not be returning.

I move too south river,and this was my first experience with royal barbecue at first the owner treated me very nice he is very mean and nasty he changes the prices on all his food they are effing slow,only two people working and he seem too take care of his own people instead of paying customers I will never go back here again in life he lost a very good customer which is me effing place should be shutdown! 0 effing stars from me

This restaurant is my absolute favorite. Out of all the places I know, it’s the one I enjoy the most. I never pass up a chance to dine here. Whenever I think of going out for a nice dinner, this is the first place that comes to mind. The food is excellent and diverse, with a great selection of dishes. The staff is generous, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Additionally, the prices are reasonable. I’m always happy to share my positive experiences about this restaurant.

Great Authentic Portuguese Churrasco! The food is fresh and delicious. I had the half chicken with white rice and French fries, all for just $11. It comes with four pieces of chicken. This is a cash-only place, but I definitely recommend giving it a try!
