Bidrage med feedbackWhat a jewel in South Ogden! Distinguishing, but absolutely delicious. The spider was fresh and crispy. Agedashi tofu was simply the best I had in a long time, and I am very picky about my tofu. Sashimi was also fresh.
If you haven't been to Hamamaru in Ogden, you're missing out! This small, family owned, diamond in the rough is well worth the wait. Be sure to make a reservation and try their amazing sashimi, katsu curry, and tempura dinner. With the pandemic, we pre-ordered food over the phone which was ready shortly after sitting down for our reservation.
Only ate here once for 2 people on a Saturday. For sure reserve as it 's basically just the only way you 're ever gonna eat here since their opening hours are so restricted. It seems to be run by 2 people, assuming Mom and Pop . It was just them so you 'll have to be patient with service. We sort of got our orders out of order (green tea came mid dinner and my partners plate came 10 minutes later than mine). Also, I am afraid to say that their Takeout service negatively affected our Dine-in experience. There was several people just standing around near the door for pickup which made the very small dining area almost suffocating. With so many pickup orders, the owners obviously were rushed and extremely busy. As for food, I do not recommend the Sashimi plate. It was previously frozen and it was super watery and flavorless. I really would love to support this local family owned restaurant but I think focusing on Dine in than take out would be better.
We loved Hanamaru! Ramen was delicious and their gyoza was amazing.
I went here on a Saturday for lunch and I think they only offer ramen/udon on Saturday Lunches. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very intimate and Japanese, only approximately 4 tables inside. Living in Tokyo for a bit, I can attest to the atmosphere feeling authentic, at least for Utah. I also like the garden outside. Their parking lot is for about 5 spots, very small. Love the ambiance. In terms of the tonkotsu ramen I got...the broth was good. There is one piece of chashu which I also think is great. However, the ramen egg half is overcooked and I would typically like it more runny. The noodles are okay, would prefer if it was wasn't so stuck together. However, great portion for lunch, was full after.
