Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant used to be a welcoming village pub with delicious food available 7 days a week. However, after changing ownership, there have been mixed reviews. While our neighbor had a bad experience with the Sunday Carvery, we had a pleasant experience with a bar lunch midweek. We decided to visit after going to Spalding Market on a Tuesday. The bar menu was displayed outside and inside above the fireplace. The barmaid was friendly, but there were some disappointments. The only cask ale available was Doombar, which was imported from Cornwall instead of supporting local Lincolnshire breweries. We were the first customers of the day, and the first pint had too much froth. When we tried to order food, we were informed that they do not serve food on Mondays or Tuesdays. Another couple who had come in behind us promptly left. We decided to stay and finish our drinks, but were left in a deserted bar with loud daytime TV playing. A morose man later identified as the landlord came in, ignored us, and fiddled with the remote before leaving. The beer also had a vinegary taste, which is usually a sign that the first pint from a pump should be discarded. We have decided to go to The Ship instead from now on.
I had booked an event for 40 people at this restaurant. The carvery was good, but the vegetables were overcooked. The service was lacking, as only one waitress was left to clear the tables, take dessert orders, and serve desserts that were being prepared by only one dessert chef. It took 75 minutes for my dessert to arrive, which was unacceptable. Overall, the poor management of the restaurant was evident.
First visit since new management, we ate from the 'Two for twelve pounds ' menu, amazing value, very tasty with the best ever chips. Extremely welcoming and helpful service. Keep it up you deserve to succeed!
Thanks to all at the Bull for making June 10th such a special day for the birthday boys. Everybody was pleased with the excellent service, which gave more than i could hope for. The food was also greatly enjoyed by all, and everybody had a Lovely time. Thanks also for the fuss made over the other birthday boy on June 20th, we had a splendid meal and we were all replete and happy as we left. Once again, many thanks to all at the Bull. Best regards, Malcolm.
Five of us visited last night (Saturday) for evening meal, we had pre booked our table. I’ll get the negatives out the way first, on entering the Pub from the car park you have to walk through a haze of cigarette smoke as the smokers were all congregated outside the entrance, not a good start, surely that facility should be further away from the public entrance. On entering the Bar area it was heaving which is good from the Landladies point of view, so noisy, impossible to get to the Bar, would be better to be able to go straight into the Restaurant without having to get through the crush. Once sat down were quickly given menus , reasonable choice and very reasonable prices, also a Specials board but that’s in the Bar and there was no way I wanted to go back in their. Two of us chose home made cottage pie with new potatoes and vegetables, the other three chose lasagna with chips, garlic bread and salad. When it was very quickly delivered the food looked good but the amount was excessive to the point it put a couple of us off, it was piled so high and apart from one of us food was left on the plates which is a shame as it was tasty. Three of us had sweets which were home made and at £4.50 each reasonable and again very good. Two of us ordered coffee but unfortunately it was not very nice and we didn’t drink it. The Restaurant like the Bar was very noisy as there was a large group in, it’s not somewhere we would return although the food was good and reasonably priced.
