Bidrage med feedbackDon't let the name fool you: There is nothing Austrian or Viennese about this lace - certainly not the pastry selection (my wife is ethnic Austrian and knows her culinary heritage). Prices are, as with everything else in Sooke, pretty elevated. The fresh bread is the best deal. May be expensive but it is fairly big and substantial. Great white bread.
Bread good. Sandwiches, not so. Ordered and waited a really long time for the food to appear, and when it did it was on the thin side, with very little between the slices of bread. More like a snack than a meal. If you're hungry, suggest you eat elsewhere.
We stopped in for a breakfast pastry and stayed for the best crepes one could ask for, which we selected from a delightful menu. The West Coast crepe is a delicious combination of smoked salmon, eggs and spinach. The sauce combined a unique blend of herbs. The gardens around the outside patio are tastefully organized and the service is friendly and prompt. Susan, the owner, ensures you feel welcomed to her clean, airy, well-decorated bakery. Lots of parking makes it easy to access this delightful bakery, which is much more than a bakery.
From the fresh bread, to the sumptuous breakfast, topped with friendly service, I can see why this is a morning destination. Will come back upon our next visit to Sooke!
Daily soups are always tasty and there's also a daily salad. Mushroom soup was hot and nice taste. The salad was broccoli and looked really good. I've had kaisar cake there and it is also rich and delicious. I saw vegan, gluten free, dairy free and a combination of such. This place has decent service and enough room inside to comfortably seat a number of people.
