I've been to Davis Square plenty of times and walked right past this bakery. I didn't even know a French bakery existed here until I spotted it on Google Maps. A shame because this place does make some very good French pastries. I was expecting more of a selection, but what I did try was excellent. The almond croissant was just as it should be--nice and flaky with plenty of almond filling. The people of Somerville are lucky to have a great croissant option right in their neighborhood. I also tried a couple of macarons (pistachio and raspberry), which I was skeptical about as so many places mess them up. However, these were really delicious. Both were not too sweet, pleasantly chewy, had just the right ratio of cookie to filling, and tasted like their flavors without being too artificial. After making it home with the two I tried, I wished I had bought a full dozen! Besides what I listed, they also had French baguettes and some mousse cakes which were tiny but beautifully decorated. Prices are high, but you are paying for French pastries that are fairly difficult and time-consuming to make, so I'm okay with that. I would love to come back, especially for more macarons.
Caramel is a bright spot in Salem. Everything I’ve tried has been amazing. And more than just amazing pastries, macarons, and coffee, the staff is so lovely. I picked up a Yule log on Christmas Eve 2021 and was having a rough day. The staff was so sweet and patient with me after I forgot to bring my order number and had to apologize for making them search for the order record. Wonderful people serving wonderful treats!
This place has some of the best macarons in the Boston area. If I close my eyes as I take a bite into one of them, it's like I am back in France. They also always have a nice variety of them as well. Their other pastries look elegant and delicious but I've never tried them as I always gravitate back to the macarons. Highly recommend to get your macaron fix!
Love the macarons here! I get them every time I come to Davis Square. I've always enjoyed the other desserts I've gotten there as well.
