King Salmon - Soldotna

We stayed at this hotel in early September with the intention of staying for three nights. However, we ended up canceling after just one night due to the lack of a shower curtain, which created a dangerously slippery situation. I even hurt my shoulder trying to prevent a fall. To make matters worse, they refused to refund our money and falsely claimed to our travel agent that they had provided us with a shower curtain.

My wife and I enjoyed three wonderful days at the Best Western King Salmon Inn. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. We appreciated having a microwave and refrigerator in the room, along with fast internet access. The only downside was our initial impression of the lobby, which felt small and somewhat dated—it could use a refresh. However, the staff were fantastic throughout our stay. Overall, we would definitely choose to stay here again.

My family stayed here at the end of July 2023. We've previously used this place for our fishing trips and had great experiences. However, I believe COVID has taken its toll, like with many other places. The restaurant is now only open for breakfast from 6 to 10 AM, which is fine unless you're going on a guided trip. There's no longer any dinner service, which was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here. We also struggled to keep the air conditioning working, and two of our rooms had black pipe residue coming from the tubs—I’ll try to share some pictures. Overall, the quality has declined, and I hope they can recover.

The room and the front desk service were fantastic, but the breakfast was disappointing. It was overcooked, and I ended up feeling very unwell. Aside from that, my stay was wonderful.

The breakfast was straightforward but enjoyable, consisting of a hot meal with sausage and scrambled eggs. Interestingly, during my entire trip, including breakfasts at other locations, I only encountered this selection on one other occasion. I had requested a quiet room, and I was pleased to be given one, which added to my overall positive experience. In fact, I found this stay to be better than some other hotels I visited that had higher ratings on Google.
