Moncafe' - SIRACUSA

Haven't tried the food here but this is our go to coffee place in Siracusa. Cappucinos are almost as good as back home in Melb Aus and are certainly the best we have encountered here. They source their beans from a company in Northern Italy and that combined with their coffee making skills makes for a near perfect coffee in our eyes. Its reasonably strong so we ask for a little weaker. As to the staff, they are always very pleasant. Excellent score for a great effort all around!

We went a couple of nights. ivan was the bartender. we visited to get a taste of siracusan aperitivo. the drinks were excellent. he accomodated 1 of our friends and tweaked drinks to be close to what our friend had tried in palermo. the spread they put out for aperitivo was excellent, a combination of various pizzas and couscous.

Took my son and partner for dinner... Had to go in and ask for a table.. Told we could sit down after 20 minutes of being ignored eventually went to look for menus... Oh did I say there were no other people.. Which should have been a sign.. Got our own menus off the bar and sat back down... I suppose it was our own fault for daring to eat out when Juventus were playing in the champions league... Which the staff were watching... Bless them.... Another 10 minutes and we got asked what we would like... Food took another 30 minutes... To be fair a pretty good attempt at a Carbonara but with cheap panchetta and not crispy, Sicilian style.. But actually not bad.. But not worth being ignored so long for....

Recently visited Moncafe for an early dinner as none of the other local restaurants seemed to be open, evening opening hours tends to be 7pm onwards. The food was quite nice (for a cafe) and at a fairly reasonable cost. To be honest, I would probably rate as average normally, but for the fact it was a lifesaver when we were absolutely starving gains an extra mark!

Looks nice enough but service was v slow and we were one of two parties. Food was nice not overly big portions....bread only arrived with meal after a long wait. Paid premium price for the location.l
