Rumrunner Pub - Sidney

We have eaten in Rumrunners over the years and in the past and are always satisfied with our experience, food, ambience, service. Today we were not only shocked by the tedious portion and presentation when we ordered the pizza special for $22.00, but... by the lack of kindness when my husband threw out of the food. It could have been all fresh ingredients, as the owner hostile to me, but the combination of spices and ingredients not well together, at least for both of us. As a chef for 30 years (my husband) we were both quite appalled by the rudeness and lack of compassion. Rumrunners is from our list!

I went to this restaurant for lunch and tried the haddock wrap, which was absolutely delicious. It was so good that I ended up having it for dinner as well because it was too large for just one meal! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. I will definitely be coming back on my next trip to Sidney.

Stopped by for lunch during our harbour walk. Easily accessible with my mobility scooter, we were given a table overlooking the harbour. I chose the seafood chowder (nothing remarkable) and somewhat bland crab cakes; while my wife had an excellent shrimp and crab croissant. The...restaurant was clean and well maintained and deserves another visit to sample other menu items.

Where to start…beside the view, there’s nothing much to enjoy. Crab cakes were clearly pre-made, seafood pasta (over $30) was mushy quite unsophisticated for the price, bread super salty, cocktails over sweetened. Needless to say we avoided desserts. A place to avoid at all...costs!

Well, with some regularity, we try to get in at the place next door only to be disappointed, but we’re increasingly pleased with the Rumrunner: the location and views are great, the wait staff is great (less so the lady at the front today, pretty...jaded), the food is fine, the price is right, and the overall experience is pleasant and you’ll always get a table without the crazy-long waits. Thumbs-up.
