They market it as a cocktail bar, but in reality, it’s simply the best Japanese restaurant in Chicago. Highly recommend the gyudon and tonkatsu

Not a perfect restaurant. Did not like my cocktail, Bright One. Pepperberry Tonic seemed OK.. Portions are too small. However, it does have some outstanding food. Liked the Chicken Karage, short rib Donburi, and tempura. The toasted Koji Ice Cream was one of the best desserts I have ever had. So that added an extra star to the review.

Everything about Kumiko is perfect. The ambiance, the food and the drinks make for a wonderful experience.

Staff is exceptional. Gone here twice and they remember our preferences and cocktails of choice. Always a good experience, remarkable and ingenious libations and food. Bartender Patrick at the bar is one of the best.
