I've come prepared (Be a pauper but order ostentatiously) after hearing tales of this place; literal sense of one of Kurt Vonnegut's titles. I had the Hokkien Mee (RM7) with a Roasted Duck drumstick (RM10) thrown in for good measure. The noodle, more like thick Udon, is rich in ingredients: 2 medium size prawns, calimari, bits of Char Sui Sui Yuk, plus crispy fried pork fat, bathed in thick soy sauce. Pretty decent. The much praised duck is nowhere near the best in town; a very much misplaced appraisal. One can safely assume the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree of its other roasted varieties.
[Non-halal Coffee Shop] Worth the try as a sibu locality The third time i went for their coffee, first two times the taste was not good because i had the leftovet brew. But the fresh brew i tasted this time was really really good. I ordered the Hua Dan Kuey Teow滑蛋粿条 , stir-fried kuey teow with egg gravy. I love the taste so much. Couldnt find much tasty HuaDan KueyTeow in Sibu. The stir-fried soup noodles also tasted nostalgic and had a nice aroma of the stir-frying using wok which chinese call guo qi 锅气 . The crispy pork and duck meat rice are also very recommended. The only cons is the shop is rather small and many times will have difficulties in finding seat.
Enjoyed the simple cooked meal from the kitchen here. Nice bbq duck and pork rice from here too.
Absolutely gutted to my disbelief. A cup of coffee cost $3.20 …. Well ppl, next time ask for price before you order
