Bidrage med feedbackBooked in the George for a week end stay so we could meet up for drinks and meal with my son and fiancé has they have booked the atrium for there soon to be wedding.place was lovely and clean staff friendly and welcoming and a nice place for drinks, would stay here again no hesitation.
Have stayed here often first time with new management. Came with friends to see a band called Kick The Fridge who were fantastic as always. Had an excellent stay and very good well cooked breakfast. The new family run team were genuinely friendly and made us feel very welcome. They have a very positive forward going approach to the business. Would fully recommend staying here.
WENT FOR LUNCH (FIRST VISIT) STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE ABOUT THE FOOD ON THE MENU, FELT THAT THEY COULDN'T HELP YOU ENOUGH. FOOD WAS FRESHLY COOKED AND VERY ENJOYABLE. THE RESTAURANT WAS BRIGHT AND CLEAN. WILL DEFINITELY GO AGAIN WHEN IN BRIDGNORTH. DEFIANTLY RECOMMEND.
This used to be the 2nd best place to eat in Bridgnorth… After the Kings Head. The Kings Head is now closed so this place was in a good position to attract foodies who like good food. We have visited this pub/restaurant many times when we are in town, always great service and very good food, waitresses looking after the customers in a professional manner. How things have changed….. Our tour of Shropshire includes visiting market towns and eating out, this was by far the shock of our trip. It’s gone downhill like an Olympic ski event, the service used to be waitressing but now it’s the couple who run the bar.. who were sat drinking and chatting with a group of locals, although they were polite.. they were not near the standard that gave this place its character and good reputation. We booked a table for 7.30pm on a Friday night and apart from 2 groups drinking together, the place was empty, the restaurant area was completely dead. The menu is diluted to a limited choice, not a great menu to choose from.. I ordered the lasagna, I cannot explain enough how bad it was, I was searching for the mincemeat and at most it was about a spoonful, same with the soggy pasta, it was a creamy mush, without a doubt the worst lasagna I’ve ever had and the worst meal so far on our trip. Even the garlic bread was frozen supermarket rubbish that you’d get from a budget restaurant. I’ve given 2 stars because my wife had scampi and chips which you can’t really ruin easily. To top it off, a doorbell noise sounds in the pub to tell the couple that food is ready from the kitchen, no wonder the once great place to eat was empty on a Friday night. We visit Bridgnorth quite a bit, I very much doubt we will eat at The George again unless it changes it’s attitude.
The Sunday lunch at this restaurant was fantastic and a great deal for the price. The pub was welcoming and the staff were friendly. I highly recommend it and I will definitely return in the future.
