Bidrage med feedbackIn the past, we have really enjoyed Le Bacchus. However, a recent visit proved very disappointing. We were the only guests. The food was mediocre at best. The gazpacho with melon, which sounded perfect for a hot summer evening, was watery and tasteless, and certainly did not merit the $3.50 surcharge. I ordered the chef's special trout for my mail course. A piece of dry white fish arrived. My husband's beef was atisfactory, as were desserts....just, Both main dishes came with potatoes which were undercooked and blackish from standing too long before cooking.I hope this was just an off night for what used to be a very good restaurant.
From outside it does not promises much. My first opinion was that the place was very old fashioned. The first good thing is that you can bring your own drinks with you. We started with a couple of local beers and already brought 2 red wines to our dinner. The table d'hote had so many good options that it took me some time to make a decision. The scargot and the beuf were excellent options and the best of all: the dessert. Do not leave Sherbrooke if you have not tried the chocolate melted cake.
This is a nice restaurante. it is true that the menue is limited, but what is on the menue is all good we were 3 couples and all had a different plate and all was excellent. you can also bring your wine which really helps keep the bill down

Last evening we had a party for the 65th birthday of twins. Two families with spouses, partners and children were present (22 persons). The menu is quite limited and certainly is for adults with discerning taste for some very different French type cuisine. Salad choices are very limited and quite expensive compared to the main dishes. There was no choice of sides for the main plate. One chooses the meat with its accompanying sauces and the veggies are the same for all plates. Presentation is well done. I personally found that the appetizers were quite large portions and for some may constitute a complete meal. Probably the average spent by each person was in the area of $40.00. The dining room was completely full except for a couple of tables. We were not the only ones celebrating a special occasion and for this reason we found it quite noisy. All desserts are made by chefs at the restaurant and are quite delicious all at the same price of $5.95. Small portions but large enough after having eaten the main plates and they also have a cheese plate for $5.95. Being able to bring one's own wine helps to keep the cost down.
