Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant is amazing because they offer unlimited Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes with their Sunday lunch!
I can't praise our visit enough today. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch with refreshing drinks, all served by incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. The desserts were the perfect ending to our meal, and the restaurant itself is charming with a great atmosphere. I am looking forward to returning soon!
We absolutely enjoyed our Sunday dinner at this restaurant! Both of us opted for the triple roast and it was fantastic. The turkey, beef, and pork were all delicious, especially the crispy crackling. The cauliflower cheese was also excellent. We decided to skip the extra roast potatoes to save room for dessert, and we were not disappointed. The rhubarb and plum crumble with custard, as well as the sticky toffee pudding, were both delightful. The service was great and we will definitely be returning. Thank you to the Cross Sythes Team!
Booked for Sunday lunch. Service upon arrival at 1:50 for our 2pm booking was good, we were quickly shown to our table. It took a while for anyone to come to take our order, in the end it was actually the man (manager? behind the bar who did so unsure if this was because they were short staffed, or just disorganised. Staff were perfectly pleasant and helpful but seemed inexperienced. We ordered 3x Sunday beef roasts at £16 each. The drinks (1 pint of cider, 2 x G&Ts arrived within 20 minutes, but the meals took much longer and service then ground to a halt. The drinks were nicely done. The meals eventually arrived and looked ok, we were warned of hot plates (they were cool . For my meal, I received 2 paper thin and small (i.e. barely the size of an iPhone slices of beef, which were 50% gristle/fat, although what meat I could eat was very tender. My partner’s beef portion was similarly inadequate. Our 3rd diner’s portion seemed to be the end of the joint and was better 3x as thick as ours but also very fatty. The gravy was delicious however. The Yorkshire pudding was a good size and seemed homemade but unfortunately rather dried out and hard to cut. The roasted root vegetables were tepid and mostly undercooked this was just about ok for the carrot, but the parsnip was rock hard, the roast potatoes were more cooked but regrettably also rather cold and sad like they’d been sitting around in a draughty kitchen for 2 hours, and the tenderstem broccoli was hard to cut and chew, being both undercooked and dried out. My partner said the mashed potato was lovely (neither I nor the 3rd diner ate any . I highlighted the quality concerns about my beef/veg when our plates were eventually collected, and my meal was immediately taken off the bill. We ordered 3 deserts (complementary for booking online ; the cheesecake sundae was large and reportedly good, but the two portions of creme brûlée Nutella fondue were a good idea but poorly executed and it didn’t really work it had a decent set custard layer but there was no Nutella flavour in the other layer, the brûlée top was way too thick in places and half of it was burnt which made it bitter, and it was served with a small triangle of very dry, strangely flavourless brownie. Our adjusted bill was just under £50.
This is our 2nd visit for food. Menu is good. Great welcome from Simon and excellent food service from Bella. Nice place to visit, warm, clean, comfortable. Bar service is very good, staff always friendly and chatty. It's always nice to return for a 2nd visit and the staff recognise you.
