Afternoon Tea Mosborough Hall

We were the only ones in the restaurant, food was excellent, service was terrible. Took 10 minutes before we were seated, when the food finally arrived it was excellent. Asked for a 2nd pot of tea, but all she did was add hot water to the pot. After 15 mins finally got to ask for a fresh pot which took 20 mins to arrive as she was manning the bar next to the restaurant which was hosting a wedding party.

The service we received was excellent, however, sadly the food, particularly the sandwiches did not look appetising weren’t presented well at all. The sandwiches were cut in to triangles, the mediocre fillings were quite sparse only on dry, white cheap looking bread, so we only ate a couple of those. The sausage rolls however were hot out of the oven and very nice. All were presented though on wooden blocks which looked like they had seen better days looked years old. Sadly we wouldn’t book to go again, which is a shame as the staff were really nice, think the whole restaurant area needs a good refurb a re-think of how to present a good, appetising afternoon tea.

We started with a dirty table, moved ourselves and waited ages to be served. When the staff did appear they were mainly helpful and efficient, but a changeover seemed to throw them completely. The new server had no idea what we had had or how to charge us. As there were no other diners in the restaurant we didn't really understand the sparse level of service. We had pre-ordered gluten free and vegetarian options. The gf arrived without a scone but with honey

When i booked the afternoon tea i wasn't asked to specify which one i wanted, therefore i was excepting a menu so we cud decide on arrival. When we arrived the lady just said you booked for the luxury afternoon tea? I was taken back and because it was a birthday present and book some weeks prior i presume i must have forgotton. Unfortunately my friend is picky about food and not discussing this prior to serving made it a little embarrassing for me. Overall the food was nice and plenty of tea.

Another lovely afternoon tea for family and friends. Good selection of food, very attentive staff.
