Bidrage med feedbackWe had lunch here and enjoyed the bacon baps and a hot dog. It is quite expensive but pleasant enough.
We have been frequent visitors to Chartwell over many years. The house is amazing, gardens beautiful, and the walks around the estate and woods challenging but rewarding. We like to walk there from Emmett's Garden, have lunch in the cafe, then walk back to Emmett's. Sadly, the cafe continues to offer poor service. Whilst prices have understandably risen in recent years (now £6.25 for a small bowl of soup! we have been disappointed with the poor selection of food over the past year or so. One of our favourites Cornish Pasties have been removed from the menu and their delicious Sausage Rolls are invariably sold out by 12.30pm. The selection of pre packed sandwiches is poor. We chose to have the soup today which usually comes with a generous chunk of wholemeal bread. Sadly, a piece of white bread was the only choice which had a crust like leather and the bread was like eating cotton wool. If the NT wants to continue to please its members it should pay more attention to the visitor experience and cease its wokish campaigning and political posturing. As a charity they need to focus entirely on their raison d'etre.
Nice place, was quite busy on the weekend so it was hard to find a table. Lots of food options available, including stunning cakes. The food was good altough not especially delicious.
We came for lunch after a brilliant trip to Chartwell. We arrived just before 13:00 and it wasn't busy yet. We each had a jacket potato, one with tuna one with beans and cheese. I had coffee and walnut cake and a cappachini. My wife had a cookie and a water. It came to about £22. The potatoes were ready very quickly. The portions werw very big and came with a side salad and coleslaw (delicious). It was all really nice and filling. The cafe was clean with plenty of seats. It did start to get busy shortly after we started eating.
So different to our last visit in summer when the cafe was extremely. This time the cafe was very quiet but the staff were just as happy and helpful, in fact more so, because there wasn't a queue. The snacks and coffee were up to the usual good National Trust standard. Covid regulations were being observed.
