Bidrage med feedbackDuring my last trip to porto I was told to go to matosinhos to buy seafood. easy drive there with the subway. when you walk the streets, the air is filled with the smell of grilled fish. only this small and invisible restaurant randomly chosen. service is...short and moderate, friendly enough, it is usually a local affair here; some English spoken. the standard grills, accompanied by cooked potato and grilled paprika and swirl, and a small bottle vinho verde. the combination of taste was simply great! actually my best meal in porto.
Small local restaurant with outdoor seating, very helpful and friendly staff, 12 sardines were very fresh and tasty, served incl. kartoffeln. additional pimentos (drilled paprika) and an salat plus 2 foam water for two persons under 20€ only fantastico
Really is the best I tried in portugal! we ordered grilled sardines, ink fish salad, house wine, cookie pipe and a coffee and paid-23 euro! it is really cheap, but eating is amazing! serve cooked potato with these, so they donut must order it separately. Cookie...pie was so tasty and actually I don't like too much sweetness and the wein . we have tasted it on many places after that, but I liked the best!
I went for lunch a couple of times and I still can have the taste of the sardines in My mouth. They taste like sea, like sea weeds. A very simple place but with the best product.
A trip to Porto isn't complete without a walk along the sea from Foz to Matosinhos and lunch of grilled sardines na brasa. This place is perfect friendly, clean, cheap and cheerful. It's not grand. We sat outside on plastic chairs practically in the...traffic but sometimes that's just what you need. This place calls itself the King of the Sardine and who am I to argue? We ordered Super Bock, a dose' of sardines and a big mixed salad. We got what we asked for and, in addition, on the house, an aperitif of fried whitebait with great big chunks of softened garlic. They didn't last long. All grilled sardines are not the same. These were fat, chunky, grilled to perfection and served with boiled potatoes. Utterly delicious, joyous things. The locals and there were a LOT of locals were eating rather more exotic fish (there was everything on the menu but we wanted sardines, no question). A lovely salad with sweet onions and fat, grobbly tomatoes which just oozed flavour. And big lumps of crusty bread. Were we happy? Yes were were. Will we go back? Yes we will.
