Gourmet House - Sefton

The restaurant has a very laid-back ambiance. The food and service are both satisfactory. It is a typical Chinese buffet located in the town center, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth the price.

I have been to this Chinese restaurant twice and both times we left with upset stomachs. I didn't think it was the food the first time, but after visiting on Saturday, we have decided not to go back again. Apologies.

I was greeted with a rude "cash only" welcome at this restaurant. The service was extremely poor - we waited so long for our drinks order that we ended up starting on the buffet, which was a bit confusing. It appeared that there were only two staff members working, one of whom seemed barely awake. It's a shame, but I don't feel comfortable recommending this place at all.

When I first went the food was average. Now there is a sign on the door saying you have to now pay before eating. And Cash only! I will not bother to return!

We went as the reviews were amazing. I rang to book a table and the customer service was shocking. Whilst we were there a staff member was stood up falling asleep. The food was awful, we had one plate each and some ice cream. The prawn toast tasted like chicken and the duck was vile and dry. As soon as we left I vomited, it made me and my boyfriend very ill. I rang to complain and was passed round to 3 different people. I was refused a refund and asked to provide my medical records to confirm it was food poisoning. After complaining for the third time, I was advised a manager would call me back and never. I don’t understand the reviews, the food and customer service was vile.
