Bidrage med feedbackDisappointing and poor value for money. Dishes were small and not particularly impressive. I was expecting something much better from this popular pub. We spent £50 for lunch and it was not that amazing. Part of the Butcombe chain, the Ring O' Bells was far better value for money and service was much friendlier and more welcoming. We sat outside with the dogs which was nice though...
There was a problem with parking at this restaurant!!! We stopped by for a drink in the afternoon on our way back from Cheddar. We had been on vacation and when we returned home, we found a parking ticket on our car. We had asked for validation of our parking and had purchased drinks and snacks while we were there. We were only there for an hour!! I hope that we can dispute this, as we have proof of buying drinks at the pub. Very disappointing experience!!
We booked The Swan for a convenient overnight stay while visiting Wells. The hotel is tucked away down some lanes, but we took advantage of the 'Sunday Sleepover' deal which included credit for an evening meal and was great value. Our room was very good, not large but comfortable with some nice touches like fresh milk in the fridge and complimentary bottled drinks. Although our room didn't have a view of the Mendips, we would consider upgrading next time. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and delicious. Customer parking is free, but be aware of the nearby pub car park across the road which charges non-customers. Overall, the location is ideal for Bristol Airport and we wouldn't hesitate to book The Swan for our next overnight stay.
We booked for one night with friends as we were eating at a nearby restaurant. Given it was an extremely hot day, when we walked into our room at 3pm it was so hot that we immediately went to open the windows. All windows had restrictors fitted and only two windows (one a fanlight) opened as all others were locked. We called someone to help and to ask for a fan, there were none left but they brought us a small fan heater which was worthless. I asked the manager about the window restrictors and was told it’s standard practice even though I pointed out if there was a fire on the landing we would’ve been stuck in our room with no access from the windows to escape again he said it was ok for this! What an utter joke. I asked if there were any spare fans as the room was boiling hot and he said he didn’t have the resources to buy one. However later he did go and buy a fan for that night so thank you again, we really appreciated this as wouldn’t have slept without it. Such a shame as a lovely little pub, good food but Butcombe Breweries need to listen to feedback as I note someone else mentioned the heat in the south facing rooms. Our friends had the room next door, they had a fan but again windows didn’t open.
We had a lovely overnight stay at The Swan. The food was excellent and the service really friendly. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.
