Spotted Donkey Cantina At El Pedregal Boulders Resort

We requested to sit outside and were accommodated, but unfortunately, we were placed in a corner and seemed to be overlooked by the staff.

It had been some time since our last visit, but we decided to give it another try. We opted to sit on the outdoor patio, which had a beautiful view. The food was delicious, especially my spouse's salmon dish. The service was also excellent. We definitely plan on returning sooner rather than later.

The Spotted Donkey used to be a favorite of ours, but our recent visit was a major letdown. In the past, we would receive complimentary chips and salsa, but that is no longer the case. We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer and received watery dipping sauces and a small basket of chips. We had to request more chips, but unfortunately, none of the sauces were the traditional red salsa. The main courses were just okay, but my husband had specifically asked if the skirt steak was tender and it turned out to be chewy and stringy. When we mentioned this to our waiter, he assured us that there had never been any complaints. However, later in the evening, the manager informed us that the skirt steak needs to be ordered medium in order to be tender. This was never communicated to us by our waiter. Another guest ordered a salad and found the dressing to be watery. The enchilada dinners we ordered had burnt cheese on top, instead of the expected melted and gooey cheese. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. Additionally, we noticed that the complimentary mints we used to receive when leaving were no longer offered. It seems like everything has changed at the restaurant and we won't be returning anytime soon.

Ordered the stuffed poblano peppers and our dining companions had enchiladas Food is very good- margaritas are good too. Wish the wine choices were better-seems like an easy thing to improve.

My wife and I have eaten here for many years thought our first visit in several months we had better than previous food. Service is always good.
