J&t's Family Cafe - Scotia

I will start off saying that this review is VERY biased, but it's only biased because I've been coming here since they opened and they have convinced me time after time after time that they are the best around. We moved to the neighborhood several years ago, and as fate wanted it, J&T's opened the following weekend. What could be better than a little cafe opening two blocks from your house? How about a GREAT little cafe opening two blocks from your house. AT this point, I've either had myself, or a family member or friend has had 90% of the menu, and somehow I have never heard a single complaint about any food item. It's just all fresh, well cooked and well presented food. I have my favorites of course, but I always find myself finding something new on the daily specials or something I haven't had in a few months. It's close, but possibly the only thing better than the food is the staff. The owner and his wife are beyond friendly and you really feel like they are welcoming you into their home for a meal. The wait staff just go out of their way to make you feel cared for and deliver the delicious food with a smile and usually some friendly chit chat. I cannot lie, I love everything about this place. It's easily my favorite restaurant and between eat in and take out we probably go here 3-4 times a week. Depending on the time of day I swear I can go in and the waitress could start my order before I even sit down. It's nice being a regular at such a wonderful place.

Great little place. Comfort food in perfect portions, not too much but not skimpy either. Staff is friendly, military and frontline worker (I am both) supportive. Excellent prices…About $25 for a lunch for two. Will be back for sure.

Been here once for breakfast and once for dinner. Breakfast was GREAT. The place was super busy that morning but all went well. There were four in our party including two small children. Also tried the place for a burger at night. Less crowded then and only two in my party. The burger was very good, the fries were the standard diner fries, nothing special, but the macaroni salad and homemade chips were good. The staff is friendly and attentive but the place could be cleaner. Might be that it was late and they weren't able to keep up with the cleaning. Five stars because as far as local diners go this is a cut above all around.

Going to try to keep this short and sweet but I could go on for days about how great this place is. My husband and I moved up the street from J&Ts last year and regret the months that went by before trying this place because now we are hooked and can't go anywhere else. My father travels 40minutes to eat here and then brings all of his friends with him and then they end up coming back as well. The wait staff and chefs are amazing, they become your instant friends/family. The fellow customers are also always nice, its just a nice positive environment and great place to get a great meal and have a few laughs before work or to start off your weekend. Every meal tastes homemade like your Grandma just whipped it up for you. The specials are always new and interesting but their regular menu is great as well, and you can't beat the prices. If you are a soup lover for this colder weather don't waste your time going anywhere else. If you aren't a local its well worth the trip and I'm willing to bet you will get hooked as well. Thank you J&Ts for being awesome and getting me off the hook for cooking a few times a week!!

First visit, every table taken but only had to wait 1 min. Waitress gave friendly greeting, atmosphere very relaxed. Had chili cheese omelette, was excellent. Side of biscuits and gravy also delicious, large enough to be a meal itself. Decaf perfect. Can't wait to go back!
