Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant is amazing for several reasons. First, the staff is exceptional - helpful, knowledgeable, and ready to assist with any questions or recommendations. Our server, Pia, was outstanding. Second, the cheese selection is extensive, featuring cow, goat, and sheep cheese from various locations in the United States. They offer cheese plates, fondue, and paninis made to order. Third, they have a selection of about 10 wines (reds and whites) and 4 or 5 local beers. While they may not have a large selection, they focus on quality. Lastly, they offer cheese platters that can be ordered with two hours notice and are conveniently located next to the train station. If you have some time to spare, be sure to check this place out.
I am thrilled to write a review for this amazing restaurant because of its exceptional menu. I have been to similar places before and this one stands out with its perfect balance of portion size and delicious flavors. In the past, I have been to places that offer Costco-sized samples (like Patchogue's Cheese Patch) that left me still hungry and with a hurting wallet. However, this restaurant serves up delicious food in just the right amount - not so much that you feel guilty, but not so little that you are left wanting more. The flavors are fantastic! The service was excellent; our waitress was friendly and provided great recommendations. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Sayville LIRR line, making it a great spot for those coming back from work. However, I deducted one star for a couple of reasons. The seating was uncomfortable - the stools were hard and lacking any back support. Additionally, the utensils provided were made of wood and not very practical. Despite these issues, I would definitely return for the incredible food and lovely ambiance. Give this place a try, just be prepared for the seating and bring your own utensils. Parking is available in the back.
American Cheese is a restaurant that, compared to its competitors, is on the pricier side. The decor and atmosphere are cute, and the service is friendly. However, the restaurant has a small wine list and limited food options. My first visit to American Cheese was average, and I wasn't overly impressed. I had been hoping to love it as much as another cheese store in Port Jeff, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. The location near the Sayville train station may pose challenges for parking, with the lot often full. While the shop had many customers purchasing cheese, there were few people dining inside, making for a somewhat awkward atmosphere. The space is small, with only a few tables and an outdoor patio that could use some landscaping. The prices were high, and the menu for cooked foods was quite limited. The cheese plates were disappointing, with small portions for the price. The wine list was also lacking in options. The service, while friendly, seemed a bit disorganized. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, things felt chaotic. The food was average, and the cheeses I tried were underwhelming. Overall, I wanted to love American Cheese, but it failed to meet expectations.
Knocking out Christmas shopping early (don 't hate). Stopped in for much needed refueling. And by refueling , I mean beer (and grub). Decent selection of craft: Sweetwater IPA, Moustache, Great South Bay with 2 offerings, Greenport 's Black Duck Porter and Crooked Ladder. Had the pork tenderloin and ham panini. Salty and satisfying, it 's a panini done right. Other places tend to overly toast and squash the poor sandwich so it 's this flattened, dry and crunchy mess. NOT HERE! The star today was the potato and leek soup which was buttery and smooth. Crunchy crostini, lightly buttered, proved a perfect companion. The bamboo spoons are kinda useless. They 're not deep enough for you to get much soup into and the porous nature of the thing makes it feel like it 's absorbing your delicious soup instead of delivering it to your mouth. It 's like trying to eat a soup with a tongue depressor. I picked up the bowl and sipped directly because I. Am. A. Savage. Another excellent experience at a joint with a killer and proven track record. Thanks guys!
Probably my favorite place to enjoy some nice cheeses and wines, this airy, relaxed cheese shop and eaterie in Sayville is really worth a trip. Their selection of cheeses is fantastic, and they have some nice charcuterie (the Olli wild boar salami slices are amazing, they call it meat candy for good reason). if you wish to sit down, there 's great cheese-oriented sandwiches, beautifully served cheese plates, and a small but excellent selection of wine by the glass.
