A menu of the day with an excellent value price, it is very simple but effective. Only the billing of the wine while it was placed on the table we thought it included in the menu. Everything is done home or almost (except fries) in short I recommend
Yesterday, rainy day in Sainte-Nathalène I decided to take a walk through fields and paths. At around 4pm, the belly is sluggish, I move towards the only bar restaurant in the centre of the village. Opening at 17:30, winter hours. The season was cruel and the rest must be put, for sure! In the evening I chose to enjoy my last night in this village that has been hosting me for 4 seasons. I come in. It's 8:30. The room is half dark and there is no sound, no music or a living soul. There’s a couple who dine and the waitress greets me with a “it’s you who’ve been in the afternoon? Yes, it’s me, and at the same time there’s little chance to make mistakes was the non-existent flow in this gray day... I settle and receive the map. Soup mats, fries plate, 2-3 other choices. Tapas ?! , a profusion of pizzas of all colors, burgers, menu à 20€ à plat unique...typique. Despite my meager budget my choice is on the piece "of butcher" 14€. The qualifier "butcher" must surely signify piece " carefully chosen by the handicraft butcher" or not. I take order and to misplace my evening offers me 25cl of red wine. I taste. Gross. In the region it is called the "cratch-c", simple precision. The dish is served. A piece of meat of size...present, plethore of fries and a "pitite" salad with two slices of uncoated kiwi. Osé. Yes, but it's no... The meat is good thanks to the parsley and I quickly eat the fries without hunger/end to let me get the chance to finish something just good. The plate is finished, the wine is recaled. To not conclude on a sad note I ask to see once again the menu in order to take cheese or other. The kitchens are closed, it's 9:15. Ice? The refrigerator has not been working for two weeks. Sad. And there my friend « refrigerator to present the desserts », the sound of my evening a remarkable brrrrr, shows me these most beautiful pieces. Cellophane cakes. Among the desserts Krill? I decide to take a local cake, black apples. My part is accompanied by a whipped whipped tip. Thank you. I go to the bathroom before leaving and what do I hear in the back kitchen?! "With that he's gonna blow the pipes off! "This sacred butcher... I sincerely hope that this was not for me. I settle the bill 27€ and go away forever. Too bad. The frame has everything to make this place a crossroads of meetings... However, I think, perhaps wrongly, that it is the lack of details that it lacks. No music, a fine decor, a refrigerator to throw away! , an atmosphere to create... I fully understand that the team can be tired after this difficult period and I’m sorry for them. I wish this establishment to become a place of happiness, an asset for the village of Sainte-Nathalène. Sometimes and not sometimes a nothing can upset everything, it is not the details that mark the most but the absence of details. But for now, a shame.
At the end of August, we fled the touffer of Sarlat for a hotel cossued in Ste Nathalène. The thick walls built with the ochre stones of the region have protected us from ambient heat. A young team attacked the restoration of the 11 rooms that were victims of the negligence of a former owner who was not concerned with the well-being of his hosts. The new rooms are clear, sober but intelligently decorated, warm, well equipped and exemplary cleanliness. The restoration is not great, you have to let the kitchen staff have time to perfect themselves. The hotel enjoys a large parking lot and a partially shaded terrace from which we have been able to enjoy a beautiful sunset on chestnut trees and oaks that make the beauty of the Black Perigord. We invite you to encourage this team of young people we want them to succeed in their business.
