Vino-Vino is a gem. Situated in a small strip center off Siesta Key Drive with a total of 9 tables we had an excellent dining experience. Chiro the Italian born owner-chef brings a slice of Italian Apulia food and hospitality to Sarasota. Be patient here. It’s about the experience. Before the meal he did a little presentation on where the food is from and their homemade pastas, followed by the specials of the evening. They have a nice selection of wines and we started off with a Pinot Grigio and a super Tuscan. For an appetizer, we split the mussels which came in a red sauce. The sauce was thick and hardy, and we almost asked for a to go box with the sauce and homemade focaccia bread to take home.My partner ordered the rigatoni special and I ordered the snapper puttanesca special. Both issues came out, warm and well prepared. Deep flavor in both and a nice portion. I generally don’t like any toppings on my fish, but the puttanesca was outstanding. For dessert we decided to try the tiramisu either his mother’s or grandmother’s recipe. Excellent also served in a wine glass.Chiro, the owner is the star of the show here. His warm welcoming and engaging nature along with excellent brings a true slice of Italy to Sarasota.
We went to this restaurant because it had great reviews, and it did not disappoint. When we came, there was only one table open. We were asked if we had a reservation, and we responded that we did not. They were booked, but still let us have the table. They have a small crew the owner, who is the chef, one of the waiters, sommelier, and whomever else he needs to be, and a couple of other people running front of the house. That caused a little bit of the delay, but the food and atmosphere was worth the wait. Homemade pasta was delicious, and penacotta was one of the best desserts we ever had. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have delicious food while also supporting small local businesses.
Wow. What a special dining experience. My husband and I tried the specials: simply amazing. (He’s not prone to dramatics: said it was the best piece of fish he’d ever eaten! Grandmother’s meatballs/sauce were to die for.The chef/owner is a wonderful, gracious host. His preparation highlights the delicious, fresh ingredients in every dish. Can’t wait to see where Vino Vino is in 5 years! This guy deserves all the success and a much bigger restaurant!
Great Italian cuisine with authentic home made tastes. Mussels and calamari with red sauce was superb! Wait staff knowledgeable and friendly. Will repeat!
