Always lots of locals stopping in for a bite here. Prices are the same as they were 2 years ago! I like the tlayudas better than the tacos here, but both are good. I especially like the pickled onion and turnip ? that comes with the meal, and the grilled onions that accompany the tacos. Yum!
This is a little taco stand on one of the back streets. We stopped here because we wanted to try a tlayuda without spending an arm and a leg if we didn't like it. It was awesome and pretty filling, even though we split it. Ice cold beer and good food! The waitress even went next door to get change for us.
This place has been around for at least 8 years and is one of the true unknown local gems. It used to be called Taco Bety when we first went there 6-7 years ago. The same charming family has owned and operated the restaurant and is truly excited to have tourists come in for a bite to eat. The tlayudas and tacos are the original item and are made right before your eyes. They are served with two different kinds of salsa (red and green) as well as halved grilled onions. You can have 4-5 different types of fillings including al pastor, pollo, cabeza, suadero, quesillo, and mixta. Tacos are 5 for 30 pesos and tlayudas range from 25 to 45 pesos. Beers are 12 pesos and jamaica water is 7 pesos. Not much english is spoken here, but don't let that fool you....The owner and his family are really gracious folks and will treat you like family. They remember us every year and because the food and company is so good, we try to eat here at least once per week. This is a small local restaurant and should not be missed. What it lacks in fancy amenities, it makes up for in terms of food quality and genuine customer service. Stop by...you won't be disappointed.
Im glad I visited here on my last day. Delicous, abundunt mexican cuisine. Most people couldnt finish thier portions.
Unfortunately we don't speak the language but we managed to get what we wanted at what we think is a good price. The thing that impressed us was the cleanliness. It was not very busy when we were there so after our food was prepared they wiped down the cooking tools, cleaned the cutting board, and then mopped floor in front of the grill. Have never seen that before.
