Tony Alba's - Santa Cruz

I'm really disappointed that this place has closed down! They had the BEST pesto chicken sandwich, and their salads were amazing! And the pizza—oh my goodness! One of the specialty pizzas featured a white sauce; I could easily eat an entire pizza by myself! Their pasta was fantastic, too—there was a wonderful selection of delicious Italian dishes. It's truly unfortunate to see such a great restaurant disappear from my area.

We were pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary bread, which was a nice touch, especially considering our spaghetti and two meatballs cost $14. That feels a bit pricey for what seems like a fast-food Italian restaurant. The spaghetti was pretty average, but the meatballs were tasty. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It was also interesting to see that they had an ice cream station.

My husband and his family grew up coming here and so I was excited to finally go. The complimentary bread sticks, salad, and pizza were all terrible. Not sure if there was a change in ownership but my husband said the food was nothing like it used to be. I would never go back.
