Siempre super amables.
We were looking for a light early evening meal in St Carles de la Rapita and most of the restaurants don 't open until 9pm. We 'd passed all the 'plastic ' tapas places along the Placa de Carles III in the centre of town and were unimpressed. Almost giving up we turned right at the end of Carles III, down through the Placa d 'Espanya and into Carrer de Sant Francesc, where we spotted a small place with a few tables outside. Venturing into what turned out to be a tiny place. only three small tables, we found a real Aladdin 's cave a traditional Spanish taberna adorned with posters, pictures, hams hanging from the ceiling and dozens of dust covered bottles of wine. The taberna is run by a mother and daughter team and has a tiny bar, a display cabinet with a good selection of home made tapas and a big cold display unit with all sorts of cheeses, vegetables, meats and more prepared dishes. You select your tapas, which were good portions and if needed it is cooked in the small kitchen. All we selected were delicious, especially the meatballs and tripe. Wine is served from the bottle and all was at a reasonable price. The owners speak very little English but are very friendly and made us feel right at home. In this place we really felt like we were in Spain and away from the tourist track. They are open all day and close at 9pm, when the other restaurants are just opening. This was a great find which we thoroughly enjoyed, so much so that we visited it again. If you want traditional Spanish tapas then you must try this place thoroughly recommended
