Bidrage med feedbackWe were attempting to visit the Liechtensteinklamm on a sunny afternoon, and were very disappointed to find it closed. However, we decided to stop for drinks and ice creams in the courtyard of the very pleasant cafe. Although we did not have a full meal, the menu looked very interesting - We would have visited again, but the cafe/restaurant is only currently open Friday to Sunday, I believe.
We made a stopover at the famous Liechtensteinklamm even knowing that the gorge is being closed for visits for the rest of 2017 due to maintenance works. What a wise decision! We had lunch at the restaurant at the entrance of the gorge. We were treated extremely friendly by the restaurant staff and enjoyed our stay a lot. I had the trout and LOVED it! The whole place has been upgraded recently and everything is new and the bathroom is modern and superclean. Go there and you will be happy!
Although the crimson cannot be visited this year because of a large rock fall, a visit to the gas house "klamm fürst" situated directly at the entrance to the crimson is also highly recommended. We were 9 (all from salzburg) for lunch here and have been excellently fed. the chef (in the kitchen) has even smoked trout and other delicacies. the chefin takes care of the services very personally with a very symphatic and competent employee. dzt you can even drive directly to the car in front of the house (if you are bad to walk). Otherwise it is a nice walk from the large parking lot along the ache.
We chose to eat at Klamm Fuerst due to previous reviews. It was ranked in the top five in the area and was located at one of the main attractions - Leichtensteinklamm. Thought we were on to a winner here! How wrong we were.We went on the Wednesday and decided we'd walk the gorge first and have lunch afterwards. The gorge was indeed beautiful and we enjoyed it thoroughly. So we came out and went straight to the restaurant. We sat on an outside table and ordered a couple of drinks while we perused the menu. No problem.Drinks came and we ordered. My wife asked 'can I have one of the baked potatoes but swap the sour cream filling for cheese, please'? No! was the curt response. No explanation, no reason, just No! 'Oh right' (feeling awkward) I'll just have it with sour cream then' I ordered the grilled sausage and fries. The meals arrived and we tucked in. My fries weren't the best, luke warm and a bit limp. Sausages were fine. The wife's baked potato appeared ok initially but after eating half it was apparent the rest of the potato was hard so she left it. Didn't want to incur the wrath of the waitress so didn't mention the hard spud.We watched how said waitress interacted with other diners and there didn't seem to be much warmth going around. So it wasn't just us then. We concluded that she's clearly in the wrong job - time to try something else dear!Sad to say that during a whole week in the Salzburg region this was the only establishment where we felt unwelcome and the food was at best average. My advice if you just want lunch or a snack at the Klamm then go to the other Gasthaus as it seemed to have a similar menu but it's cheaper.
We were a group for birthday celebrations in the princess and, after an excellent lunch, have wandered through the royal stones with trout, grilling and exceptionally good dessert. it was a very successful day and great experience.
