Bidrage med feedbackThis is the original Maid-Rite. The menu is simple (4 combo options), but prices seemed high (but I guess everything seems that way anymore). For a hamburger-size Maid-Rite sandwich, handful of fries, and frosty mug of root beer, it was $11 (2024). So, the portion and quality was a bit low compared to price. Service was quick and friendly. The inside could stand to be updated. The owner (I think) was very friendly and explained that this particular Maid-Rite is the original from the 1900s/1910s. The inside seemed a bit cluttered and old; I understand wanting to keep the authenticity of the original, but having boxes and books and various junk stacked in a corner gives a very cluttered, unkept feel. Nonetheless, the food was decent.
This was a definite throw back in time. Super cold frosted mug of root beer was what brought me back the next day for round two. Great place a must if you are in Springfield!
Great experience here. Took our three kiddos in and the place was great. Staff very friendly. Feels like an old school burger joint. Menu is simple. We got one of everything. The samwiches are great, fries good, was impressed w chili and curds. Portions are honestly how Americans should be eating vs. how much they want. Would recommend and willl definitely return. It is worth checking out if you’re in the area vs. eating at a franchise
Edwin through the drive-through for the first time the lady didn’t even even ask me what I’m drink I wanted just gave me Root beer I wanted hamburgers and fries. The hamburger meat is not even a burger. I paid $11 for something that should’ve been charged maybe four. Absolute worst burger in
We stopped in Springfield during a long road trip and saw there was a Made-Rite and had to stop since we’ve had it before other areas of the country. The food, drinks, and service was wonderful, but what really made my day was the history on the place! I couldn’t believe that this building was one of the original franchises and on the National registry of historical places built in 1924. They also hold the claim as the first drive thru restaurant!
