Bidrage med feedbackBrady’s Bistro at YZP has been in operation for over a decade. When it first opened in the early 2000s, it was a welcomed change to the interior landscape of Sandspit Airport (YZP) because, for the first time, travelers had an in-house dining option available to them: the sandwiches were large, high quality and good value for money; the soups outstanding and full of flavour; and the baked goods a real delight. In more recent years, however, it seems as though the quality has declined while prices have crept up. A few examples: while sandwiches are still typically made with house-made bread, they’ve also gotten MUCH smaller; bought bread is also used more frequently; and the pizzas, when available, have become thin and not much better than cheap food court offerings. And, as I’ve noted, prices have gone up: a plain grilled cheese sandwich (with bought bread) is now $10 while toast – just toast – is $5. If we were talking gourmet or even the level of quality this place had in its earlier years, I might say the price was/is justified, but that’s not the case. Service can also be really slow because the Bistro is a one (and sometimes two) person show, so if you don’t want to rush or pack your food up to go, I recommend ordering early.A positive point: Ms Brady does make an effort to provide for folks even on STAT Holidays. Typically, baked goods, drinks and even pizza will be left out with prices attached. Brady’s Bistro is unmanned during holidays, so the “honour system” is used. Such a service does not have to be offered, but it speaks much to the caring nature of the business owner and, I think, reflects the generosity of the community in a larger sense. It is also for this reason that I will, despite my criticisms above, rate this bistro as “average.”FOOD: 2.5/5SERVICE: 3/5VALUE: 2/5RECOMMENDATION: If you’re waiting for a flight and have a bit of time (and you will), I would recommend visiting the Sandspit Inn for better food options and more value for money. The price point here at the Bistro just isn’t justified, in my view.
This is located in Sandspit airport. It offers a range of sandwiches, coffee, etc., It will ease the hunger pains, and the (toasted) sandwiches are actually very good,
We drove to Sandspit and were looking for a soup and sandwich for a late lunch. The lady working the kitchen, serving the counter and delivering meals/coffee, etc. was all by herself, thus the service was only average.
I normally think of airport food as average at best because they have a captive audience, but this was well above average. They had a few tables where workers were having breakfast and lunch. The baked goods were still coming out of the oven before the 11am flight and they smelled great. I had a warm cinnamon roll and wished I had purchased more for the flight. 1 employee so you may need a little time to wait in line.
The sandwiches here were absolutely delicious. The only reason I haven't done 5 stars is that it was busy when we were there and there was only one employee so we had to wait awhile, and it wasn't even a guarantee that they had enough bread to make sandwiches for our whole group. In the end we did all get fed, and again, the sandwiches were incredibly tasty.
