Nacion Sushi, Altaplaza - San Miguelito

We visited this restaurant four times during our recent three-week stay in Casco Viejo in August 2022. We were staying across the street at the new and excellent Hyatt La Compania. The restaurant exceeded our expectations from the first visit. Despite reading reviews mentioning it was a chain restaurant, we found the food to be excellent and reasonably priced (especially for the city and Casco). We tried satay, gyozas, sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken, pad Thai, and a keto salad, all of which were a tasty interpretation of their Asian origins. The service was friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised to have our food served with silverware, as we initially thought it was a fast-food chain. Overall, we had a great experience at this restaurant.

This restaurant is not what you would typically expect, as mentioned by others. The Pad Thai has a unique twist, but overall the food is delicious and the portions are generous for the price. The sushi rolls are 25% bigger than other places and very fresh. The service was average, nothing particularly outstanding.

While the food was excellent, the service was extremely disappointing. It was difficult to place an order, as the cashier had to come and assist us. The wait time between placing our order and receiving our food was quite lengthy. We even observed dishes ready to be served sitting idle, with the waitstaff ignoring them. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this restaurant.

The Pad Thai they serve is not Pad Thai be forewarned, so you are not disappointed. The service too was a bit disappointing, the restaurant had few guest and quite a few waiters, all the same I had to get up from my table to have one of them take my order. The only time the waiter really paid attention to my table was after the bill was paid, and he needed to pick up the tip after I left. I will come back to try the rolls, and hope for better attention!

We as older generation still were impressed by this buzzling place but would opt for a more tranquile place next time. food was good and portions enormous
