Kobeya - San Mateo

Kobeya is a no frills, down to earth, amazing Japanese food spot. My favorite is the beef katsu curry. I would highly recommend checking it out.Food: 5/5

I absolutely love this place! I’ve tried the tempura and the beef curry rice, and they both bring back memories of my mom’s curry. Parking can be a bit tricky, as the angled spots can be hard to find, but the prices are very reasonable. Plus, the restaurant is clean and well-maintained.

This restaurant is a real find, offering great food at budget-friendly prices. It has a laid-back atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a quick meal. I visited on a Friday night with a friend, and we had no trouble finding street parking. Although the place is small, it wasn't crowded, so we were seated immediately. I ordered the Chicken Karaage Curry, which was just $12 and had a perfect portion size. The curry sauce didn’t include potatoes or carrots, but the dish felt satisfying thanks to the generous amount of chicken and the side salad. I’ll definitely return to try the sushi or bento boxes!

This is the best curry I've ever tasted in the Bay Area. It's absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it!

This place is cozy and welcoming. Family run restaurant. Karage, curry dishes are delicious. My kids love the ramen and agedashi tofu.Food: 5/5
