Helios - San-Martino-di-Lota

Found this place on TripAdvisor. Thought we’d give it a try. We were the only customers at opening time. Tablecloth and cloth napkins suggested high prices. We we were wrong. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Try the grilled cuttlefish as a an appetizer. The linguine with clams was excellent as well. Took care of us well, kids and and all. Worth a visit!

This hotel restaurant has two fixed price menus I chose the more expensive one and complemented it with some very lovely local white wine (they offer glasses of regular and superior wines, mine being the superior, hopefully). The menu was very hit and miss while the starter of Corsican ham was very good, it was accompanied by a packaged piece of President butter (the same they serve at their breakfast). For the main course, I chose the swordfish meddalion it was mediocre, not seasoned well, and accompanied by a huge amount of mayonnaise. Avoid. The dessert (mascarpone and strawberries) was excellent and very very tasty. So, I do not even know maybe the other options for the main dishes are much better. There is hope, at least! The service was absolutely brilliant, however!

The Helios Restaurant at Hotel Thalassa is good value. The 'Prix Fixe ' menus are varied and the food is appetising . The staff are good humoured and look after you very well. The view out to sea is superb, only occasionally spoiled by the ubiquitous 'White Van ' on the road outside. My wife and I both enjoyed it enormously.
