Hyuga Sushi - San Marcos

Sushi was okay. The sizes of the reels were both smaller and more expensive than other Sushi restaurants around the area. The lighting was also very dim. Total good service. Wouldn't go back there because there are better places.

Horrible! Horrible! PLEAAAAASE STAY AWAY from this Horrible Place. We arrived at 4:15 pm ordered right away. Get this Ladies and Gents, my wife and I ordered TWO ITEMS, yes not 5, not 3.... TWO ITEMS... We didn 't order appetizers oh my goodness... and we waited for almost TWO HOURS and we left with our table and stomach still empty. Although we are pretty hungry, we like to give restaurants fair chance that 's why we waited but then when they don 't even check on you to make sure you 're okay or at least apologize for the wait we decided to leave. So when my wife went up to talk to the server and told her that we can no longer wait. She didn 't even checked if the order is ready, beg us to stay or at least apologize sincerely. She just said okay cancel order. Quite unprofessional and rude. My advice to them is... If they can 't handle a lot of customers then just let them know right away that dining in is no longer available. At least customer is aware that the wait is going to be long and if he/she wants to come back later they can, or if they decided to wait.. well it 's on them. Believe me, if they only did this system I wouldn 't even give them a bad review. I wouldn 't just be fine with it. I also noticed that the Itamae (Sushi Chef) just prepares food that are to go. They don 't know how to prioritize orders! Again this is a horrible place, we will never go back and will never recommend. If I could give 0 star I would....

Yum! Loved the chicken katsu curry. My wife got the karaage...never had this anywhere before so I don't have anything to compare to but it sure was tasty. Also, unique fun ambience with lots of pop culture art and eclectic music.

This place was recommended to my wife and me, so we arrived for lunch. First off, amazing cozy mood with some great music and artworks that decorate the dining area. Service was fast and friendly, and the menu was compact, but with a lot of variety. Our food arrived in time and was absolutely a treasure that was a perfect quantity and was prepared and displayed professionally. The tuna was absolutely perfect, like the shrimp, soup and even salad. We will definitely come back!

Still the best! I haven't been here in a couple of years so I was curious to see if they changed but to my delight, they're still delicious as ever! Took my parents here last month and they loved it as much as I did. The chicken karaage was crispy and tender. The pork curry was just the right balance of salty and sweet. The tempura batter is very light so you actually taste the vegetables (the way it's supposed to be so you're not just biting into thick batter). The miso soup is heavenly and the owner's wife offered us several more bowls of it since my mom liked it so much, without charging (unlike some places). I've never had the saba shio (mackerel) here before but gave it a try. It was probably the best mackerel I've had any where. Wasn't greasy or too salty, just grilled to perfection and even the skin was crispy and delicious! You won't regret coming here.
