Mama Lupe's Cocina - San Leandro

Only the Best! I have been eating here since I was an embryo and For the last 25-26 years I have been coming here as often as I can. I now live about. 100 miles away any usually try to make the drive once a week because there just is no food like home. Always consistent. Best prices around. Amazing food and I have never left hungry and have never found a dish I didn’t love. I compare every restaurant I eat at to Mama Lupes. The best Salsa around!

Food and service were good it wasn't terribly busy when we visited. I ordered a shrimp dish that was in a heavy sauce, the problem I had was the tails were still on the shrimp making it rather inconvenient and messy to remove the trails from the shrimp while the dish was hot. It did have good flavor though.Would like to give them another try with a more traditional meal.

The family has been trying all the Mexican restaurants in San Leandro. I’ve been following this place for a while on Instagram. Why haven’t We tried this place sooner!!!! This place is a gem! The foo, absolutely amazing and flavorful. Made with love, heart and soul. The music spectacular and the staff, wow, above and beyond. You can feel the love they have for their restaurant and community. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. We nearly ordered it all….it was so good we forgot to take pictures of our food.

My favorite local spot for Mexican food and oysters. They have the best sauce I've ever had for oysters, an arbo chili mignonette. The right combination of spicy and savory.

We were so excited to hear that the new and improved Mama Lupe's was now open after their remodel. Our party of 4 stopped by on a Saturday afternoon ready to have some good food and that we did! Started with two beers and some Street Corn with chips salsa. The Street Corn was packed with fresh corn roasted just right, full of flavor, and of course lots of cotija cheese. The chips were lightly salted with plenty of crunch... totally made in house. And the salsa- yes please!! After all that we were stoked to get our meals which included an enchilada plate, quesadilla, and a grilled chicken burrito smothered in the house green sauce. EVERYTHING was delish but my favorite by far was the green sauce on the burrito. So light and flavorful with just a little bit of a spicy punch. The remodel looks great!! You have to check out the bar top... such a personal touch that shouldn't be missed on your visit. The ADA bathrooms are clean, crisp, and have great tile. They even have the cutest little sinks! Can't wait to visit again soon... We will be back!!
