Casa Agueizotes - San Jose

I paid the equivalent of $23 USD for two mediocre tacos the chicken chipotle ones , pictured below, and a *MOCKTAIL*, clearly marked as a mocktail on the restaurant menu, to which they added alcohol ! without my knowledge or consent. Upon receiving my bill, they charged me an additional $6 USD equivalent for alcohol that I did not ask for. When I stated I had not asked for alcohol and did not taste it in my drink they said it was gin, which I would know the taste of , they informed me it was a “muy suave” very smooth alcohol so that’s probably why I didn’t taste it and insisted I pay for it regardless. Not only was this meal not worth the $12 USD equivalent it cost, but the mocktail having alcohol added to it without my consent or knowledge and then being forced to pay for it was incredibly frustrating and a massive issue. Luckily I am abstaining from alcohol simply because I feel like it and do not have any religious or health reasons that require it. Shame on this restaurant and staff for not making things right by removing the alcohol up charge from my bill and for making it worse by saying that I couldn’t taste it because it was a very smooth alcohol. That is very creepy behavior and akin to spiking people’s drinks. Service was also slow and obviously unhelpful. Do not recommend dining in this establishment. Food in Costa Rica is expensive no matter where you go, and you would be better served at any of the other restaurants on this street.

Great atmosphere for a casual meal. Our waiter Randy was excellent. He recommended the prime rib and chicken chipotle tacos. Both were excellent.

We went to this restaurant for a family dinner. It was quiet as we arrived early. Unfortunately, our server was not very attentive during our meal. They brought us the wrong drinks during our second round and then tried to blame us for the mistake. The waiter insisted that we had to pay for the drinks since the order had already been placed, even though we didn't even want them. This experience ruined the atmosphere for us, so we decided to leave soon after. To make matters worse, the unwanted drinks were still included on our bill.

Vibrating feeder towards the street and busy service at the back provides central american feeling. My choripan was well done.

After finishing a long tour of Costa Rica, we spent our last night at this restaurant where the staff took great care of us and served us delicious food.
