I eat here almost every month. I like the king crab kickin style, medium spice. Often will do shrimp, crawfish, or sometimes clams. Cajun fries are addicting. Sometimes the shrimp can be a little overcooked, but it's usually good.
This is our local Cajun shrimp spot. The food is always consistent but the service can be a hit or a miss. The price is good for what you get. We normally order 1lb of shrimp (per 2 people) with sausage kicking style mild (there is still some kick), steam rice for each person and an order of garlic noodles. Sometimes we get the fries but ask for no seasoning because my kids do not like spicy. Just make sure you get there early before the dinner rush. Have been driving down an hour and a half to buy food here for the past 2 years and have never really had any issues until today, when my wife requested for what is always included with your order which is Lemons and salt/pepper in which she was denied of it because they are short. Call me immature but I feel regardless if you eat there at the restaurant or to go it should be the same, they had buckets full of cut lemons but couldn’t give us a small baggie like they always do because our order was to go ? Neither salt/pepper ONLY for customers eating there- like if I was asking to a large quantity it was simply denied. But what really got to me was the way the attendant said it and turned around very confrontive like saying “ what are you going to do about it ?!” That’s just a big no. Next time I should probably take my own lemons, salt/pepper and a bag of sea food in case their short and so they don’t respond with such attitude. Take in mind they had just opened, how could they even be short? It’s not the customers fault they don’t prepare before opening like any other restaurants, it’s not like they open early 3pm). Food is good, just be ready for the new guy’s attitude, get what you get and shut up in other words ??.
The price is acceptable and relatable and the food seems to be tasty. I was impressed by the service and the whole technique of serving: you kinda eat from a tablecloth and after you leave, the whole tablecloth with all the residuals is wrapped up and discarded. Clever!Also the first things you get: a ton of cut lemon, napkins and lobster bibs.Never seen that before.The ambience is interesting, maritime and very comforting. Heavy, tasty smell of garlic, fresh seafood, garlic, salt and... garlic.I only had the Gumbo but the other guests seemed to be very happy with their seafood. The gumbo itself was a 3/5. Could definitely be more spicy.
